Pregnancy: Ovulation period

Every month during the menstrual cycle a tiny egg (ovum) is released from an ovary into a fallopian tube. This is the stage when the estrogen level is at its highest. Some women may feel a slight twinge at the time of ovulation. Meanwhile, the endometrium continues to thicken and cervical mucus (vaginal secretions) becomes clear and slippery to help sperm travel more easily into the uterus.
