Menopause: symptoms of menopause

Symptoms of menopause vary, but oftentimes before her periods stop completely, a woman can start to feel some unpleasant symptoms such as hot flashes, irritability, night sweats, the need to urinate more often, bladder infections, vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse. These symptoms can last into post menopause.

Hormone level fluctuations can make a woman feel irritable, tired and anxious. Other signs of menopause include sleep disturbances, headaches, dizziness, or a racing/irregular heart rate. As estrogen levels fall, the tissues lining the vagina become thinner, which can also cause dryness, itching or a burning sensation. A lack of estrogen can also cause pain during sexual intercourse. Some women might start to lose bladder control and, from time to time, feel joint and muscular aches and pains.

Symptoms including light urinary incontinence will affect some women, but this should not result in a less active lifestyle. We recommend a wide variety of products designed to meet the different needs of women from heavy flow sanitary pads to panty liners recommended for light urinary incontinence.
